A Note From Gail

Thank you for your interest in Kids of the Kingdom. I have been the director and owner of KOK since it was established at Zion Lutheran Church in 1989.

I am very thankful that the Lord has given me the opportunity to provide a Christian-based ministry with a homey atmosphere in our community.

Please feel free to e-mail me or phone me (210-688-9171) if you have any questions.

Serving His children,

Gail Anderson

Our Philosophy

We believe that young children should be cared for in a very nurturing, loving, safe, Christian environment. The administration and teaching staff strive together to provide this environment which includes many varied, positive learning experiences to enhance the spiritual, mental, emotional and physical development of children.

Our Goals

Our goals are to provide the following components in our program:

  • Low child-staff ratio
  • Qualified / well trained staff
  • Positive staff-child interaction and communication
  • Developmentally appropriate curriculum
  • Healthy, safe environment which provides opportunities for exploration & learning
  • Ongoing, systematic evaluation

Curriculum

KoK Teachers guide the children through active manipulation of the environment, and concrete experiences. The implementation of this approach to learning is accomplished through the use of various learning centers such as:

  • dramatic play
  • blocks
  • nature
  • science
  • books
  • puzzles
  • manipulative's
  • art

Christian principles and Bible stories are integrated into the curriculum on a daily basis. Children in the Pre-Kindergarten program also focus on language arts and mathematics. We use both a phonetic and whole language approach to reading. Mathematical concepts are taught through games and various manipulative's. Special activities for ages 3 - 5 include

  • Chapel
  • Computer, Dance, Spanish and Piano Classes
  • Music/Movement Classes.
  • Monthly enrichment activities
